I am an improvising musician, performer and film maker. I work primarily with sound or from sound. I am interested in the live experience of performance and the resulting artefacts that these moments can produce – something beyond simple documentation. I seek with in my work to communicate an inner mood, feeling, emotion something that is deeply human but also intangible, that perhaps can not be put into words. Performance and improvisation invite connections. My work is about physicality, presence and corporality and connection.

These things in turn also lead me to prefer analogue over digital. Sound, dance, the scenic – fills the space, it is also fragile and intangible, it is difficult to capture, it does not really exist, yet it is present. Improvisation is a way of being with things as they are, being open to chance, randomness and allowing an unfolding and a discovery rather forcing or preconceiving an idea. Bio – I have been playing with music and sound since I was 13 – I learnt to play the Trumpet and Bass and have played with a number of eccentric, and eminently “unsuccessful” bands.

I became interested in theatre and ran away to the circus – Via chance and happenstance I ended up teaching at circus space for 6 years, directed many shows , including the British premier of Mauricio Kagels Variete for the Almedia Opera Festival, and became the head of acting for the million dome central show. I now find myself Immersed in exploring sound and improvising
