My work confronts issues facing Fashion such as temporality and commodity fetishism, by presenting an embodiment of paradoxical notions, which explore the relationship between body, space and cloth.
I drape Jersey within architectural spaces, quietly but assertively, wrapping around, exposing, protecting like skin and manifesting uncanny presences. Often the body is implied, hidden or suggested in the forms I create, mimicking shoulders, hips, a head or sometimes taking the guise of a crumbling building or a staircase.
In this way, my work inhabits the uncomfortable space between Fashion and Fine Art. I offer these elusive experiences which evade definition, a place to exist. Destabilising what we take to be the truths in our surrounding by asking us to take a longer, closer look.
I work as an assistant for Lee Lapthorne’s long running, renowned catwalk showcase On|Off, a platform which nurtures emerging and international Fashion Designers on the London Fashion Week schedule.
